Heart It

I put together this little piece of art a few weeks ago and have been meaning to take a picture and post it, buuuut yeah, I’m slow.  I cut out a bunch of hearts on my Silhouette cutting machine to the size of my choice and spent more time than I thought trying to space them evenly in this frame, hah.   I just used a glue stick to glue them onto some plain white paper, then stuck it in this frame.  I was originally inspired from an Etsy shop that my friend had showed me.  I decided to go with flat hearts instead of folding them, and making a heart shaped pattern within my little heart mosaic.

I heart it.  You could easily punch out a bunch of hearts with a heart shaped hole punch too, such as this.

Something good

I’m the type to get annoyed by people celebrating unnecessary milestones in their relationships, like a monthly dating anniversary, a 2-years-since-we-kissed-aviserary, you get the point.  I don’t mind the important ones, but sheesh, who needs to keep track of all that stuff?

My point is, that I am kind of giddy about one of mine today and thought I would share and yack about how much I love my husband (just a little bit!).  Chris and I met online over 5 years ago, I’m sure many of you know the story and I’ve talked about it brifely before, so anyways, today is marks our 5-year “anniversary” of us actually meeting for the first time.  It’s so important to me because well obviously, it worked out really well, and also it was something that I would never have imagined I would do & I still can’t really believe that I flew from California to Michigan by myself, on a whim, to meet a guy that I’d been talking to for months. I wasn’t really sure where it would lead at the time and wasn’t really expecting something out of it, but obviously I am glad we took that chance.

Anywayyys, enough of that. My now husband is all kinds of awesome and I’m so thankful that we took that chance 5 years ago. Yay! Be expecting another lovey post in about 5 more months when we will be celebrating our first married anniversary – hah! 🙂

I also like to look back at older photos of us, even though it was only 5 years ago, we looked SO young!

End of week love

Man, I’ve had a really tough week. Can’t go into details…I don’t even knowwwww.  One thing I can talk about that happed this week is our turtle died 😦 He was a really small guy and he was actually our first pet Chris and I got about a month or two after we moved into our old apartment together. RIP Fred, he was a cutie. I love my animals mucho. Even if they aren’t the cuddly kind!

Anyways, some happy things!!!!…

We love the show Parenthood, but I hadn’t really watched all of the episodes in Season 1, so I bought it last week and actually finished it last night!  Lots of little details about the show make sense now. I love all the characters. (Okay maybe not Jasmine. Ugh.)

I’m not usually a cookbook person, or a book person for the matter; however, I was browsing some books on Amazon to learn more about baking, and I came across Baked it looked pretty awesome.  I got it last week, and read through the entire thing, and I LOVE it.  It is packed with tips and really amazing looking recipes, and they are from a bakery so that makes it even more awesome 🙂  Oh and it also stole my heart because there are woodland/deer motifs throughout, drooooool.

 The Head and the Heart. Still obsessed with them. So good.

 I know, I’m lame. I love Scentsy. This is my new favorite scent, Oats & Honey. It smells SO good.  I even bought the spray, and have been spraying it around my house. If you have  Scentsy warmer I definitely suggest you get it!

I need this cupcake stand so bad. Too bad it’s $148 (REALLY? So dumb). I’m on a mission to find a cheap knock-off.

 Chris and I signed up at a gym again (FINALLY) and started working out on a regular basis, and with that means eating healthier.  We are doing really good so far. I stepped on a scale the other day and just about died, I have a ways to go but that’s ok. I’ve never been obsessive about weight, I just want to FEEL good.  I’m tracking what I eat and how much I workout every day on Livestrong.com. I used to use it religiously a few years ago and it really made me want to not be so lazy.  I’m also pretty excited because Chris is actually more into being healthy than ever, it was kind of weird going to the store and having him be concerned about what was in we were buying 🙂

I have a draft of another wedding post sitting around, buuuut instead I wanted to share a few pictures of a little hike we did last weekend. We hiked up to the place where we got engaged, it was so pretty. I picked a bunch of those flowery things to add some pretty color inside my house 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, I truly am thankful for so much!

Wedding Love: Wood

I have been adoring anything wedding that has to do with tree carvings. If you got one of our invitations you know what I’m talkin’ bout! I came across a few Etsy shops that I’d probably buy everything from if I were rich. Here are some of my favorites:

{click to enlarge}

1. I have loved the stuff from Block Party Press’ shop for a while, but the Wood You Love Me Necklace is catching my eye at the moment. You can get it personalized with you and your other half’s initials and wedding date on the back side! Too cute. They also have matching cufflinks in the shop to match.
2. Blue Fabric Birds with Love Heart: I’m not sure if there is any cake topper more sweet than these two fabric birds. It’s a little pricey at$93, I think I may try to make my own. I just love them too much!
3. I came across Rock Candy Vintage’s shop a few days ago and I could literally purchase about 10 different items for our wedding. This Personalized Frame is a little “differen’t” and I think it would be super cute at your wedding, and then used for decor at your home!
4. Another cake topper that I just adore, Love Birds with Tree and Nest. They are completely custom, and yet another thing you can use for decor/memorbilia in your home 🙂
5. How cute would these little Personalized Heart with Easels be if they were placed on all your wedding tables! Such a cute idea.
6. Wood Burned Bride & Groom Signs: I would use them for photo props and hanging in the back of our receptions chairs. I think they are super rad!
7. These teeny Personalized Birch Heart Magnets would make perfect wedding favors! Have them made with your initials and wedding date and voila!
8. I love stamps. And I really love this Tree Heart Stamp! You can use it in your wedding decor, stationary, etc. Plus, it lasts forever! 🙂
9. I love these Personalized Table Number Mason Jars as centerpieces. No seriously, I think I am going to make my own with some of those tags, so clever & rustic!
10. Wood Tree Slice Wedding Centerpiece: I also adore slices of wood as part of centerpieces. Having your initials carved into them is seriously so cute!
Hope you loved this stuff as much as I do, I wish I could have it all!! 🙂

Feeling Lovey

This song came on and now I’m listening to it over and over, love the lyrics and they are oh so true. So I’m sharing 🙂

Thrice – The Weight

There’s many who’ll tell you they’ll give you their love,
But when they say “give” they mean “take.”
They”ll hang ’round just like vultures till push comes to shove.
They’ll take flight when the earth starts to shake.
Someone may say that they’ll always be true,
Then slip out the door ‘fore the dawn.
But I won’t leave you hanging on.
Another may stay till they find someone new,
Then before you know they’ll be gone.
But I won’t leave you hanging on;
No, I won’t be that someone.
And come what may, I won’t abandon you or leave you behind
Because love is a loyalty sworn, not a burning for a moment.
And come what may, I will be standing right here by your side;
I won’t run away, though the storm’s getting worse and there’s no end in sight.
Some talk of destiny, others of fate,
But soon they’ll be saying goodbye.
But I won’t leave you high and dry.
Because a ring don’t mean nothing
If you can’t haul the weight,
And some of them won’t even try,
But I won’t leave you high and dry;
I won’t leave you wondering why.
And storms will surely come,
But true love is a choice you must make
And you’re the one that I have set my heart to choose.
As long as I live, I swear I’ll see this through.
