This last week has been all about the holidays. It’s started to get pretty cold, which mean hot drinks, fires and the holidays. I love fall, but I also love winter almost as much 🙂 We picked up a tree yesterday and that evening I spent putting up the lights and ornaments.
We’ve also started a few fires this week.
And of course put up some more decor; and what are the holidays without some yummy seasonal beers?
Another thing we try to do every year is get together with my family and put together some gingerbread houses. Usually we are up in the mountains but since we don’t have a cabin anymore, home it is. I don’t know what it was, but this year everyone had the hardest time ever trying to make the houses look at least decent. The kit that Chris and I (mostly me) had to deal with was a “mini” gingerbread house village. No words are necessary to describe this mess:
Yeah, no comment. I was beyond annoyed with the whole situation (but the spiked eggnog helped!). And for any Bakersfieldians, we dubbed this “Oildale Village.
And today, I took some Christmas photos of my cousin’s freshly born baby boy, he is SO sweet.
Isn’t he sweet? So precious.
Well, our little family also attempted some photos today. Sadie was good at first, and Tundra wasn’t having it.
But somehow we got one, WITH the dogs. I know right? It was chaotic. I will probably share the outtakes later…hah.

Yes, chocolate pairs well with wine. But it also pairs fantastically with a dark beer, or 5.
Nieces are so much fun. Especially when you can buy them sugary treats and then leave them with their momma the rest of the day 😉
I’m pretty close with one of my cousins, who is about a month younger than me, started dating her husband just days before me & Chris, got married a month before us, lives 1 mile away…and just had a sweet little baby boy!!
When I’ve been wearing my hair long for too much time, I want to chop it off. So I do.
Truffle fries from Moo Creamery are AMAZING.
Sometimes my crazy dog likes to snuggle.
Yep, treats for your furry friends today! Dog treats are SO easy to make. Technically you could eat them too, but..there’s no sugar or salt so they aren’t very tasteful 🙂 But your dogs, they will love them.
Peanut Butter & Oat Dog Treats
1/2 cup rolled oats
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray two cookie sheets with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, combine the oats, flour and baking powder and set aside. In a stand mixer fitting with the paddle attachment, combine the peanut butter and milk together on low speed until well combined (about a minute). Slowly incorporate the flour mixture into the wet ingredients just until combined.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2″ thick. Cut out with desired cookie cutter shapes, I used dog bone shapes. Place cookies on greased sheets and bake for 17-20 minutes.
Aaaaaannnnd, here’s my dogs begging for these yummy treats 🙂
Too much cuteness.
Our dog Sadie loves bubbles (thanks to my friend Danielle for getting us to try that on her). She loves jumping in the air and chompin at them, and won’t ever stop!
Yesterday we were in Target roaming around, and in the kids’ toys section there is a whole aisle dedicated to bubbles and toys that do crazy things with bubbles. So we ended up buying a BIG bubble blower. I thought I’d share a video of her popping the big bubbles, ignore the mess in the background (but check out our new curtains!). Make sure to watch her jump off the couch at the end, plus a shot of Tundra 😉
This weekend my mom and I went on a little hike to a spot where I hadn’t been before, about 40 minutes south of town right at the base of the mountains. I grabbed my dogs and they had sooooo much fun. It was SUCH a pretty day, I am glad I lugged my camera out there.
A few flowers were starting to pop up, but there’s supposed to be a ton more in the next few months. I am for sure going back! Next time I hope we see some deer & bunnies (my mom promised there is wildlife there…all we saw were sheep this time).
I haven’t talked/shared photos of our dogs in a while..here’s a few of this this morning while I was cleaning.
