Feeling Christmas-y

This last week has been all about the holidays.  It’s started to get pretty cold, which mean hot drinks, fires and the holidays.  I love fall, but I also love winter almost as much 🙂  We picked up a tree yesterday and that evening I spent putting up the lights and ornaments.

We’ve also started a few fires this week.

And of course put up some more decor; and what are the holidays without some yummy seasonal beers?

Another thing we try to do every year is get together with my family and put together some gingerbread houses.  Usually we are up in the mountains but since we don’t have a cabin anymore, home it is.  I don’t know what it was, but this year everyone had the hardest time ever trying to make the houses look at least decent.  The kit that Chris and I (mostly me) had to deal with was a “mini” gingerbread house village.   No words are necessary to describe this mess:

Yeah, no comment.  I was beyond annoyed with the whole situation (but the spiked eggnog helped!).  And for any Bakersfieldians, we dubbed this “Oildale Village.

And today, I took some Christmas photos of my cousin’s freshly born baby boy, he is SO sweet.

Isn’t he sweet?  So precious.

Well, our little family also attempted some photos today.  Sadie was good at first, and Tundra wasn’t having it.

But somehow we got one, WITH the dogs. I know right? It was chaotic. I will probably share the outtakes later…hah.

Fact.

Yes, chocolate pairs well with wine. But it also pairs fantastically with a dark beer, or 5.

Nieces are so much fun. Especially when you can buy them sugary treats and then leave them with their momma the rest of the day 😉

I’m pretty close with one of my cousins, who is about a month younger than me, started dating her husband just days before me & Chris, got married a month before us, lives 1 mile away…and just had a sweet little baby boy!!

When I’ve been wearing my hair long for too much time, I want to chop it off. So I do.

Truffle fries from Moo Creamery are AMAZING.

Sometimes my crazy dog likes to snuggle.

New Momma

My friend Danielle and I like to pull our cameras out every so often and go on random photography missions. Today we messed around with our cameras a bit and took photos of my longtime friend who is due with her first child at the end of August.  Our first choices of photo spots didn’t work out but I think we managed to get a few good shots. I am definitely not used to doing portraits, but it was fun!

Here’s a few of my favs.

Such a pretty momma! And for fun….

Some baby fever: cute toys

I’m not pregnant, but quite  a few of my friends are – or have recently had babies. Not only that but the whole internet world of women my age seem to be pregnant as well. This is so not helpful for me! I just cannot wait to have a family.  While I am impatiently waiting to start one, I will just live vicariously through my friends… by planning adorable baby showers, finding sweet nursery inspiration, and buying them the cutest gifts ever.

I came across some of the cutest kid toys a few days ago, so I wanted to share some because I know 90% of you are pregnant or have small children (ok, and for my future children…duh!).

My Uterus Hurts

My weekend was filled with cute little girls….you can’t tell me you don’t love photos of random little kids you don’t know! Yeah, that’s what I thought 😀

My niece is the happiest little gal ever, I adore her!

It was this little one’s first birthday, she’s my cousin’s daughter. SO CUTE.

Sadly, it warmed up here a bit this weekend 😦 Otherwise, we got some much needed stuff done: bought out wedding bands (!) and picked out the guys’ wedding tux’s. Woot!

Did you have a good weekend?

Did you hear?

My good friend Morgan is preggers! So happy for her and her husband Justin. And uber jealous of their cute little family. I love you! 🙂

You should definitely stop by her blog and congratulate her if you haven’t already!!!

xoxo

Ps, YAY FOR FRIDAY!!!!

Weekend

I had such a great long weekend. I am thinking the fact that it was extra long (yay for 2 days off work!) made it much greater 🙂 Some highlights:

I found a super cute deer in a local antique shop that was an awesome deal (I saw it for $30 more on ebay!).

I got baby fever, again.

One of my very very bestest friends, and one of my oldest, got married! YAY! They got engaged the day after Chris and I 🙂

I hope yours was as good as mine 🙂
