I love, love love animals. They bring me so many smiles.  These pictures complete me.

just call me the crazy cat lady

A few weeks ago I came across a cardboard cat teepee on Pinterest (via Michelle).

Yeah, how amazing is that? RIGHT? I made a few clicks and found myself of the company’s website.  Loyal Luxe makes some pretty rad pet products (just a few at the moment). I would probably buy them all, because I’m obsessed with my “children.”  Not only did that have that cute teepee, but even better, they had a CAT CABIN. Yes. Don’t be jealous. Within a few hours that baby was purchased for my cat (Garbage) and I’ve been anxiously awaiting it’s arrival from good ol Canada.

Uhrm, ignore the doggie hair all over the floor. Whoops.

I was kind of scared his fat butt wouldn’t fit in there, but it did! Hah.  Chris did an awesome job quickly putting it together.  It came with a few different things you can hang on the front including the faux antlers as shown, a fish and some other items.  Oh and a little cardboard ball you slip together and hang on the inside for your kitty’s playing pleasure.

Oh, PS. I thought it was hilarious the company had this photo on their website because my cat ALWAYS tries to squeeze in any tiny empty box he can find.

Foxy Lady

While working on a SUPER SECRET project (!) – I was looking for a photo of a fox and became overwhelmed with the cuteness that is this sweet little creature. I’ve always loved Fennec foxes, but foxes are flipping adorable in general.  So here’s some foxy** cuteness for you.

**Growing up, my family always had Sheltie’s as pets – and my first one was named Foxy because she looked like a fox (like this), my grandpa named her!  When I was 18 or so, Foxy died.  A few months later my family decided to get 2 more dogs, and got Foxy #2 🙂  Just some random Alyssa history facts for the day!

I also just watched Fantastic Mr. Fox the other day…what an adorable movie! Gah. Foxes are taking over my life!

On Seattle Being Awesome

Oops, it’s been three weeks since I wrote about the first part of our “mini-moon” – {Portland} – didn’t mean for it to take that long to write about the second half of our week away.

After our 3 short days in Portland, we drove our rental car up to Seattle.  It took us less than 3 hours to get there, which is pretty awesome – and the drive was so pretty.

When we first arrived, we just drove straight to our hotel. We stayed at Hotel Deca, which is located in the university district.  It’s a super adorable boutique hotel and we definitely had a great stay. Our room was adorable and had great views (I believe we were on the 14th floor), plus they gave us some free honeymoon goodies including some champagne and chocolates 🙂

It was kind of late in the afternoon and we were starving, so we decided to head downtown to Pikes Place Market right away and find something there to eat.  Can I just say that I hate parking in big cities (especially when I’m driving) and it gives me MAJOR anxiety? That is all.

We ended up grabbing some delicious chowder at Pikes Place Chowder, and then spent the rest of the day walking around, exploring and hitting some some shops.

And since our trips are all about food, we had a late dinner at a sushi place that was right down the street from our hotel, Village Sushi.  It was really good and the restaurant was on a street with older houses – so it was in a super cute old house!

The next morning we went to a diner that has been featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives, Voula’s Offshore Cafe.  The cafe was super cute and we had a great meal – you could tell it was a really popular place, and for good reason. I have no idea what we ate but it was probably delicious 🙂

That day we drove about an hour and a half away to a a wildlife park called Northwest Trek.  We wanted to see more of the outdoorsy part of WA, so that’s why we went there. Plus…we love animals and it sounded pretty neat.   The whole places was located within a dense forest, on acres and acres of land.  All of the animals there are native to the area, some were in enclosed habitats, and there was another part of the park where you go on a tram tour through all these different habitats and see heards of different animals roaming around. That was pretty dang neat, because you were right next to them.  Here’s some of my favorite animals we saw.

That evening we ate at RAM Brewery and grabbed some coffee at Satellite Coffee, both in Tacoma, WA.   Weird story, that night when we got back to our hotel in Seattle, we turned on the news and saw there had been a shooting at a “popular restaurant” that night and Chris said “that would be funny if it was the restaurant we went to”…and it TOTALLY WAS. Weird right. I mean…Tacoma is kind of a drive from Seattle, and we just happened to be at THAT restaurant that same night. Crazy.

Our last full day in Seattle was spent visiting some random places that I had read about online…they were kind of all over the city so we drove a lot.  In West Seattle we visited Bakery Nouveau (I had an AMAZING almond croissant), Cupcake Royale (we tried lavender, red velvet, salted caramel and tripe threat chocolate, all so good!), a store called Click (lots of handmade goodies – I got some cute stuff), and stopped at the farmers market (it was a Sunday).   That night we hit up another brewery, down the street from our hotel, Big Time Brewery.  We mostly just went there to try their beer (which was good!) and we ate pizza 🙂

Aaaannndd, the last day of our trip, we had to drive back to Portland from Seattle. It was raining really bad – so bad that sometimes I couldn’t see and I felt like I was going to crash! But we made it 🙂  (and just so Chris doesn’t sound lazy, I had to drive THE WHOLE TIME because I am the only one 25 or older and we didn’t want to pay more for him…boo!).  Before we went to the airport, we met a friend for lunch at – you guessed it- another brewery. We had lunch at Widmer Brothers, and I think Chris is the only one that actually had beer. At this point, I wanted to die from all the beer and food we had been ingesting – lol.  After that, we headed to the airport and we had a safe flight home (yay!).  Actually, boo…I was really sad to leave that gorgeous area and kind of depressed to come home. Can’t wait to go back.

And that, was the longest trip recap of all time 🙂 Hope you got through it all. Whew!

I’ve had a sad week. My sweet, adorable, loving, kitty is gone. I miss her so much. 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦
